To Scam or not to Scam ?

From: China 江苏(jiang su) 南京(nan jing ) @paulfox1 Time : 2014-08-29 20:14:50

I didn't want to make a blog out of this because there is not really enough information, but since scamming is a favourite subject I thought I would ask some questions

John Abbot is doing his best to rid sites like this of scammers. CLM seems to be the only site that has a 'scammer prison'

The subject of this thread is quite simply Philippine Women in China

Are there any ?

Many Filipinas seem to be creeping onto CLM (and the other major competitor) and they all seem to 'work' in Shenzhen, Dongguan. Guangzhou, Zhuhai etc, which all happen to be in Guangdong province which is just over the border from Hong Kong

They all 'work' in the same industry, which is Child Care/Nanny/Kindergarten

Are they real ?

John, you lived and worked in SZ for a long time - did you see any Fillipinas there ?

These girls may speak a little English, but there is no way they can speak Chinese

I seem to be getting so many 'interests' from Phillys living in China that it's scary!

I reckon they are all scammers - unless proved otherwise

@paulfox1 - when I lived in Shenzhen there was a substantial number of Filipinas living there. Many of them were nannies, and I had one friend who dated a beautiful Filipina nanny for a long time. However, it seemed like there were even more of them who were performing with Philippino bands in the bars. That may be because back then I was hanging out in bars in my early years, including in my own bar, and I certainly wasn't hanging out in Chinese homes.

Philippinos are noted for their musical talent and good singing voices, and back then they outnumbered the Chinese who entertained in bars. However, I understand that in recent years the government has passed some laws making this difficult and there are far fewer of them performing in the bars than before.

But I am sure there are still a lot of Nannies in Shenzhen and I don't doubt in Guangzhou and Zhuhai as well. It's pretty simple, those are the cities where it is easiest to make visa runs into Hong Kong, so that's where a lot of foreigners hangout, including expats from all countries, not just the Philippines.

The bottom line is that most of the "Filipinas in China" on our site have turned out to be real. A few haven't. Don't assume they are Scammers, assume they are not. But until you've had a reliable video chat, act with caution just as you would with any other member.

I hope that helps.
