I have been asked to contact a woman using a QQ address. For the life of me I cannot find an English version that I can get to work for me.
Ok I'm no computer whizz but I'm no idiot either....

G'day mate.
I can assure you there is a English version of QQ on the internet for download.
I have been using it every night for over a year.
Type in QQ in your google search. One will say English version or translation.
It is just like skype.
Good luck.

Hi Steve
If I'm not wrong, QQ was born in China, it make sense that you dont have a QQ ID if you don't contact with Chinese people ofenly. Like many Chinese people dont use MSN because mostly we use MSN to conmunicate with foreign friends or customers. I also heard from some of my customers in foreign country that QQ doesn't work very well in their countries. So you dont need to feel upset.

Good luck!

Last time i tried to get the English qq.. I downloaded it and then still needed to fill put some of it in Chinese to make it work.

I think i might have gotten one version to work about five years ago if I rmember correctly but it just didnt work well from the US to China.

I have used skype and wechat to China without any problems though... And Chinese can use both easily too...

Just email her back and ask her if you can try something more Western user friendly.

Hi you need to use QQ International, it works quite well. Just do a search on Google for QQ International and follow install steps.

@steve575 I have also run into the same problem. So far no clues from anyone. Any luck on your end? I thought site admin might have an answer. It is hard for the lady I'm writing to because of the Eng/Chinese barrier.

There is a QQ International version that is mostly in English. Also, if you use Chrome web browser, it will translate enough of the Mandarin to make the email usable. I use the desktop QQ International version all the time, and it's pretty much all in English. Just Google for QQ International by Tencent, you should find the download pretty easy, then you can register and create an account.

Here you go - I use this ever day. It's a thinner version of the Chinese client but really solid.

I have managed to create a QQID but upon signin I am told my version is about to be obsolete and to download version 1.6. Tried but there is a conflict because it says QQ is running so cant download. All I have is a page showing some things that are possible but no My Space, Contact list no access ranslate service in other words no active webpage. Cant contact website help because attempts met with message "could not perform action because default mail client not installed properly". Tried many times, even recovered system to earlier dat and retried still same crap. I am not totally computer illiterate but this has me tearing my hair out....All of it

Hmm, the latest version is 1.6, so if you go to and click the download link for the Windows version that is what you should get. If you try to install it and it says it is already running, then the best thing to do is shut down the currently running process of QQ. Depending on what version of Windows you are running, there might be more than one way to do that. I think both Windows 7 and 8 are pretty similar though. Use the CTRL-ALT-DEL key combo to bring up the task manager. This will show you currently running programs. If you do not actually have QQ window open it might not show in the list, so check the tab called Processes, it should be second from the left I think. Scroll down until you find a process called QQ.exe you want to right click and choose "end process tree" from the menu your right click pulls up. Then you can install the newest version of QQ International. Sadly QQ is not the most well written or behaved software, and it tends to be a little buggy. It is however the most widely used chat client in China at the moment. Try these instructions and let me know if this helps.
