A Good Book

From: China 广东(guang dong) 惠州(hui zhou ) @meg Time : 2010-07-25 01:02:26
Many years ago, I found the book on the old book stall on the roadside in my hometown. I was very excited to see it. It is a good book. It is just like a window, I can see the world more from it. I paid 2 dollars for it. Its name is Discover. It was written by Daniel.J.Boorstin.

Daniel.J. Boorstin served as the Smithsonian Institution in Washington Country Museum of History and Technology, the U.S. Librarian of Congress. The book Discover is his exploration of human civilization in the world and the self-representative. As a literary historian faction, he described all the great human discovery and inventions and its discovers and inventors with history and interesting stories eloquently, he displayed the colourful human scroll the history of civilization.

He believed that “ we are now observed from the Western civilization to the world, that is, land and sea, celestial and human, plants and animals, history and human society just were revealed by the countless scenes of ‘Columbus’.” Based on this theme, he began with the first discovery of human beings --- Time. From the ancient to today, he described the discovery of the earth and oceans, and the exploration of celestia bodies, animals and plants, endless variations of human and other natural mysteries of exploration, and human’s self-discovery, and so on. In short, as the author said, this is a whole world tales but a new continent. On the map of human knowledge, there are still many unknown areas waiting to be filled, to be discovered.

I have read PartV--- The Road Leading to the East. There is a Latin Proverbs, “ Light from East”. It sounds interesting. Before I read this Part, I recalled Chinese five thousand years glorious history and civilization, it is just like a minister of the films, flashing in my eyes.

Tonight, I will read four parts, they are Part15 Pilgrims ad Crusaders, Part16 The Mongols launched channels east and west, Part17 Missionary envoys, Part18 Found in Asia.

Part18 told me Marco.Baltic’s experience and its impact are far beyond all other well-known Christian travelers. Franciscan monastic went to Mongolia, but the went back in three years. They were just the role of envoys from the mission. Marco. Baltic’s trip is as long ad 24years. He reached the places which predecessors did not. He crossed Mongolia, accessed directly to the center of China. He crossed the whole China to the ocean. He played a variety of different roles, Kublai Khan liked him and trusted him. H

@meg Thanks for this information, Meg.

"Discover" certainly sounds like an interesting book.

In return, may I recommend two books that I also found very interesting.

They are "Conversations With God" by Neale Donald Walsche and "The Cuckoo's Egg" by Anna Morten.

Both these books explore into the field of paranormal activity but with a twist. That is, these are based on true life accounts of messages and information received by the authors from spirits or unseen entities (for want of a better word), that aim to provoke, tantalise and guide discerning readers into a better way of life.

Fascinating stuff, if you're a believer in the possibility of other dimensions of existance around us.
