There are many things that we westerners complain about in China, the 'Bean-Can-Man'; those that pay homage to the 'Flob God'; people walking on roads and driving on the pavement; the apparent lack of common sense; even the education system that is often more akin to palliative care than it is to teaching. “A time machine?” The Rajah shook his head. “Not quite… I think of it more as a Peeping Time Machine.  It shows the future, but only the kinky parts. It was created through quantum perversion physics. You know, the mathematics that developed after America outlawed heterosexuality as being a sick misunderstanding of the true dynamics between men and women.  Dr. Bobbit conclusively proved - via voting on social media - that the male organ has been created by evolution so that women have something to chop off when they get angry.” Read more…

“This would never happen in China,” she said, and I had to admit she was absolutely right. Taking away citizens’ right to own a gun removes the possibility of mass killings in a society the same way that getting a vasectomy eliminates the possibility of becoming a father. Although I recall reading a year or so ago about a killing at a train station in Kunming where a guy with a knife killed 4 or 5 people, that scenario is light years from the killing of 50 and wounding of 53  that had just taken place at a nightclub in Orlando. I've been wondering, for a while now, about who's going to write an article about the perils lurking in the west or, in fact, in the entire world. There are a great number of people who are willing to follow their dreams and start new lives in a foreign country. So, this is my motivation for thinking that people, including Chinese and Asian ladies, should know a few things about their desired countries and the perils of the world. Read more…

Few days ago I made a comment to John Abbot, I told him that I really feel that the only truly happy people in this world are the idiots, the imbeciles, the completely mad and the children.  The more you know, the more you become aware of what is going on and consequently the more you suffer. “Where are you from?” is a common icebreaker when meeting new foreigners or Chinese colleagues. I’m from Boulder, Colorado, but my answer always varies slightly. If I’m talking to an American or Canadian, I usually simply say, “Boulder.” It’s an admittedly small conceit, as if it’s LA. Or Toronto, Vancouver, Montreal, or Calgary. Or DC, New York, Seattle, Philly, Chicago, Detroit or Boston. Read more…

I receive a newsletter called The Daily Reckoning which is put out by a company that researches and recommends international investments. I'm not really in the league of true "international investors" but I find that stuff strangely interesting, especially when the information is coming from a source that is a little on the rebel side.
