This series unapologetically delves into the depths of the traumatic breakup with my former partner Lily and its immediate aftermath, including what happened in the fraught days and weeks following the separation. Writing it is providing a much needed catharsis, releasing me from many negative emotions associated with the galling break up. Read more…

This story continues from the last article.  It describes the day after I’d been unceremoniously kicked to the kerb by my last girlfriend, Lily. One of the less joyous times of my life. One that even to this day, is etched painfully into my memory. It's easy to say "Well, as one door closes, another one opens". Read more…

Learned  people inherently knew there were three channels to learn wisdom. The first method was by pondering and reflection, that supposedly was the most noble way. But this was for people smarter than me who sat cross-legged in caves all day and ate nothing but lettuce leaves. Read more…

The small shop was full of flowers every kind, in colors one could have never imagined of existing. Daffodils, tulips, lilies, gladiolas, carnations, orchids, and, of course, most people's favorite, roses were everywhere, on the floors, in fridges, on the walls, and in buckets. There was barely room for the customers to walk around. The flowers' scents filled up your nose with such a freshness that you could easily imagine standing in a meadow somewhere in the Alps, breathing in the essence of the virgin Earth. Read more…

China has long been known for its wonderful ability to copy products. In March this year there was a national 'awareness day' during which people were told to consider the implications of buying 'knock-off' products. Copying products is almost part of Chinese culture itself. Read more…

I don't remember how often I have been to Xi'an, but I can only remember that I was always rushing to and fro around the factory- hotel- airport in the business trips. (We have an important supplier in Xi’an with whom we both have been in a close cooperation in the past many years.)  When I finished my work, I usually rushed to the airport to catch the last flight to get home. In order to save time, sometimes I just had a bowl of noodles to fill my poor belly at the Airport, and finished it as soon as possible in a few minutes before the boarding gate was closed. I still remember that the cheapest noodles soup was RMB 68 at the airport.  The other day I read on a Chinese forum that some Netizens were complaining the noodles soup was too expensive at the airport.  Read more…

It sometimes amazes me just how many great people are among the members of CLM, and how much they contribute to the community spirit we strive to create here. This includes the bloggers of course, and the many regular contributors to the forum, both men and women. But there are many other Chinese women who really have gone out of their way to make CLM a good site for everyone. I'm going to discuss 4 such women in this blog today. Read more…

In this CLM, I find some guys are curious or sarcastic about what are “Traditional Chinese Women”. I would like to take a try (or challenge) on an introduction of some typical images of “Traditional Chinese Women” in several different periods in our history. Hope it could be helpful to know how “Traditional Chinese Women” have been changing with the passage of time. You would see, deep down even in this modern and westernized world and no matter how open-minded we might be, what is left in our core value, and maybe it could be viewed by Jung as collective unconsciousness. I am not sure how many parts the series might be, and mostly I would let it go naturally. Read more…

When it comes to international online dating, there are certainly choices. Although eHarmony and match.com are perceived primarily as domestic dating sites, each of these sites has international options as well. In the case of eHarmony, the same website covers both domestic and international dating, while match.com requires international members to purchase a separate membership. Below are my impressions of these sites. Read more…

Her answer came two days later and I was happy reading it because it said she was willing to get to know me better, and if everything went well between us she would be even open talking about moving to another country.  I asked for her personal email address in my reply and went to work with a happy smile on my face, suddenly very excited about my new experience with online Chinese dating.
