Black Ambulances and Quirky Salutations

3597 Views | 4 Comments | 0 Articles | 8/23/2010 12:28:40 PM
My Blog today will cover a couple of topics. The first involves a pretty substantial evil that exists here in China which the government is trying to clean up. The second one involves what seem to me to be some pretty quirky Chinese greetings, so quirky that I’d appreciate some response from the Chinese members explaining how they think these greetings came about. Chinese Valentine’s Day - Qixi Jei (“The Night of Sevens”)

If you’re a Western single male, then “Yes Virginia, there is a Santa Claus”, but he comes on Chinese Valentine’s Day. It falls always on the 7th day of the 7th month of the Chinese Lunar Calendar, and therefore, like Chinese New Year, its date by our rather boring but reliable Gregorian Calendar varies from year to year. This year (2010), it falls on August 16th. According to Wikipedia it has been referred to in a variety of ways for many centuries it has been known by various names (more on that below) but for several decades now in China it has also been known as “Chinese Valentine’s Day”. To me, this represents a great opportunity for Western men to snag that beautiful Chinese woman on CLM that’s been keeping them awake at nights, so enraptured is he with her. Read more…

Chinese Women Are Not All Desperate, Those That Are Can Be Helped!

3351 Views | 3 Comments | 0 Articles | 7/21/2010 6:43:15 PM
Further to my most recent blog posting entitled “Find Your Chinese Love by Having a Long Term Plan (Part 3)” I’d like to now clarify some points mentioned there about some (not all but SOME) Chinese women. I made the statement that if you start professing great love and commitment to one or even several Chinese woman after only having briefly met her on the internet “all you are doing is guaranteeing yourself that the women you do meet will be among the vast numbers that are under such intense pressure to be married by family, friends and Chinese culture that they will take anyone, whether they truly love him or not. Such a person is far too crippled, emotionally and psychologically, to ever truly "love" you, or to be the type of lifemate that you will love.” Read more…

Find Your Chinese Love by Having a Long Term Plan (Part 3)

3734 Views | 8 Comments | 0 Articles | 7/17/2010 3:45:57 AM
I originally intended for this to be a two part series, but recent blogs by other people have convinced me that this part should be added before members start the actual planning of a trip to China. I have already suggested in part 1 and on several other occasions that in my opinion no man should plan a trip from some far off place, at great expense, only to come to China to meet only one woman whom he has only chatted with on the internet. That would be a foolish waste of money. It is only reasonable that you should come with a shortlist of Chinese women (the length of the list depends largely on the time you have to spend in China) each of whom you have decided seem to have real potential to be a great friend, lover and long term partner – perhaps even a great wife. First, let’s wish a Happy Independence Day to all our American members and a Happy Canada Day (belatedly) to our Canadian members. As a Canadian, I am writing this blog post in celebration of “Canadianness”, but I think it applies equally to Americans, Aussies and Kiwis as well. As for the rest of you, well the “jury is still out”. Read more…

A Flea on a Rat on a Cat (to the Tune of Bump on a Log)

Talk about feeling like a flea caught on a mouse being beaten by a large cat, that’s been CLM over the last couple of weeks. Our website’s been experiencing slowdowns and interruptions over that time, culminating in a 48 hour period over Thursday, Friday and Saturday where we were off far more than on. But what was really baffling us was the fact that it wasn’t happening everywhere. Read more…

This is my second little ode to Hangzhou. We’ve been settled in now for close to two months and are still much in love with Hangzhou. I definitely rank it high above any other city in China that I’ve visited or stayed in for an extended period. Recently a close friend of mine who grew up in New York and has lived in Los Angeles for the last 15 years or more came to visit for a week. I overheard him speaking to someone back in the USA and saying “This city is fantastic. It’s like the Beverly Hills of China. You wouldn’t believe it!” High praise indeed coming from an American. Game Player Prison vs The Dating Game

3417 Views | 4 Comments | 0 Articles | 5/29/2010 7:41:32 PM
Well we admit that Jasmine’s Blogs on the subject of Game Player Prison got us thinking, and we recognize that there are issues surrounding her concerns that deserve our attention, but after much thought and after considering all comments received, we’ve concluded it would be a big mistake to try to introduce a Game Player Prison in any form. It still all goes back to the fact that most people will accuse someone of being a “Game Player” for anything they have done that displeases the offended member. Read more…

Game Player Prison – Impossible!

3065 Views | 3 Comments | 0 Articles | 5/20/2010 11:37:55 PM
Jasmine appears to be intent on proposing that CLM introduce a Game Player Prison to accompany Scammer Prison. Now before we just casually write off this suggestion, let me say that we don’t take anything Jasmine suggests lightly. Jasmine is a smart lady, a very smart lady, and we highly respect her opinions. Having said that, let me say that we long ago, at the time we introduced Scammer Prison, considered also having a Game Player Prison, and we concluded then that a Game Player Prison is not only practically impossible, but even more importantly is philosophically wrong!
