What Are Rabbits and Do They Like Sex?

7435 Views | 7 Comments | 0 Articles | 2/11/2011 6:15:07 PM
Yes this is me getting more interest by adding “sex” to the topic. I'm learning from the other bloggers. The first 2 paragraphs are fluff to make this a Chinese New Year article but please read on after learning a tiny bit of cultural stuff. And eventually sex will come up so as to not completely disappoint. Read more…

Chinese New Year’s Eve in Hangzhou

3378 Views | 2 Comments | 0 Articles | 2/5/2011 7:46:31 PM
I have to admit that overall, this was probably the best Chinese New Year’s Eve I’ve experienced. Our party was extremely small, being my Chinese wife (the Little General), my Father-in-Law (the General) and myself (Private 2nd Class), with a brief appearance by my deceased Mother-in-Law (Mama) who was provided a special seating at the dinner table at the request of the General. What Exactly Is a Chicken Anyway?

3062 Views | 2 Comments | 0 Articles | 1/31/2011 9:16:30 AM
Recently one of our favourite members, Meg, wrote a Forum thread, How to do with the hooligan online?, in which she noted that among other rude things a male member had written during a chat he had called her a “Chicken”. Meg was extremely insulted by this because of the meaning of “Chicken” in China. So here I am going to describe the 3 best known (to me) uses of the word “Chicken”. Read more…

The Gang of 26 Behind Bars

4063 Views | 2 Comments | 0 Articles | 1/22/2011 4:14:21 PM
First, all the girls in the Gang of 26 are now in Scammer Prison. I can’t thank enough the many members who added comments in last week’s blog, and those who chose instead to report to us by email. Between you all we had enough solid evidence against some of these “girls” to convict them, and we already had sufficient evidence that all 26 are connected to allow us to convict them all based on the clear evidence against some of them. Knock! Knock! Hu's There?

3077 Views | 5 Comments | 0 Articles | 1/21/2011 11:26:57 PM
After these dark days of dealing with Scammers I was tickled to receive the following from one of our members - normandi. He wrote this himself and it made me laugh out loud. It was timely as a nice break from the drama and also timely in that it revolves around the visit of Hu Jin Tao in America. You may not find it quite so amusing if you're too young to even have heard of the old comedy team of Abbot & Costello and their very famous skit entitled "Who's On First?". Read more…

Major Scammer Investigation of 26 Girls – Please Assist

21234 Views | 44 Comments | 0 Articles | 1/16/2011 6:32:44 PM
Members: Please Help Below you will find a list of 24 Ladies from ALM. The 2 to the right are now known Scammers and are in Scammer Prison. My next blog will describe the amusing scenario of how they were caught. But during our investigation of those two we discovered the 24 others that we believe are either the same person or part of the same group of Scammers. Remember that there could be one person behind all 26 of them or a large group working in concert. Either way, we are looking for the proof we need to dump all 24 of the ones below into Scammer Prison with their cohorts. Read more…

Daydreaming in Lijiang Part 1

3387 Views | 2 Comments | 1 Articles | 1/9/2011 3:51:36 PM
Most Chinese will tell you (especially those you bump into in Lijiang) that Lijiang is renowned throughout China as “the place for daydreaming”. You will encounter Chinese visitors who came for a few days and are still there “visiting” weeks later, unable to muster the ambitious drive to find economic success that was coursing through their veins before their arrival. You will also encounter Westerners who are still there many years after arriving for a week’s holiday. Read more…

Yes I know I have been remarkably remiss in getting to my blogs about Lijiang. However I've been extremely busy, and for reasons I'll explain during my Lijiang blogs, I feel I need to be able to write them in a very relaxed frame of mind. I promise I'll get to them as soon as possible, but likely not until the eMagazine is up and running in full. Read more…

The Long, Long, Long Road to Lijiang

2989 Views | 3 Comments | 0 Articles | 10/31/2010 3:53:29 PM
Just before I start my series about Lijiang itself, I think it’s appropriate to describe the bus trip from Dali to Lijiang. Depending on your comfort level when traveling in a car or bus you might want to consider how badly you wish to make this trip. I happen to have grown up very near the Canadian Rockies and spent much of my childhood and youth travelling the mountain back country with my father, and avid hunter and fisherman. As such I got an early taste of driving extensively up and mountain roads that were frequently little more than tire tracks in the dirt, winding around mountains on ledges so narrow you weren’t sure even one vehicle would fit, let alone what would transpire if you met someone coming the other way.
