Love in China - Women vs Men Part 2 - Courses for Love

4650 Views | 5 Comments | 0 Articles | 2/20/2011 12:33:24 PM
I have been working on this blog, trying to complete Part 2 while getting input from both Chinese men and women. In my conversations with men I have come to the undeniable conclusion that men cannot talk to and do not know how to talk to women they do not know or they cannot be bothered (which is the result of the former problem). Love in China - Coupling in China (Part 1) (cont. from "Chinese Couples")

Are Chinese men that much different from those of us from the western world? I think not and I had just such a question put to me recently by my best Chinese friend when he said, "the women on CLM are really looking for western men like yourself, so why do you think they would want to hear from me?" Part of the reason I suggested he look to CLM for a partner is that he recently broke up with the girl he has been dating for a number of years and that he was planning to marry. He broke up with her because her family only cared about how much money he had or how much he was earning. Suffice it to say, he has a good job and a very secure future or as much as anyone can expect these days. Read more…

Trying to Find Love - Stories from China (Final) - Marriage, Divorce, Love, and Life

3425 Views | 3 Comments | 1 Articles | 9/29/2010 12:02:22 AM
In Parts 1 and 2, I described some attempts at finding my definition of real love and establishing a relationship with someone I felt compatible with. One was a disaster and the others just did not work out. One of the problems we have is that the choices are so varied and we never know if the "one" that we do not choose might be the best choice. All I can say is that any choice is going to be a compromise. No one person is perfect. If you think that the grass is always going to be greener on the other side of the fence, then your search will never end. Read more…

Trying to Find Love - Stories from China (Part 2) - Marriage, Divorce, Love, and Life

Continuing the tale from Part 1... The second woman I met from the same website, I traveled to China to meet in person. This occurred in November 2008. I flew to Beijing where she was going to meet me. For those of you unfamiliar with the Beijing airport, there are two arrival terminals. A new terminal was built in preparation for the Olympics. I flew on Continental Airlines from the USA and I arrived at the old terminal. Meanwhile, the woman I was supposed to meet went to the new terminal. If you are flying to China for the first time, make sure you get a cell phone that you can use upon your arrival. This would have helped me in calling her and letting her know where I was. The second thing is to arrange for a hotel and to meet at your hotel. Read more…

I have recently been to Shenyang looking into a business opportunity so I have been a bit remiss in updating my blog. I have been thinking about a few things though and one of the CLM members suggested I write about some of my experiences with women since I have been living in China. Do not make the assumption that all women are like the ones in my experiences but you will find some just like I found. Maybe what you read here will help you to avoid my errors? Read more…

Traditions and Culture - Marriage, Divorce, Love, and Life (Part 2)

I was pleasantly surprised to read the comments to Marriage and Divorce. If it is going to generate response then I think it is valuable to continue this theme. Since we are all at CLM to find a life-mate maybe it is about time someone began writing about culture and differences, if there really are any. One thing I think I can say with some assurance is that most western people believe that what you sow you also reap. That simply means that we believe that there are consequences to our actions and we will be rewarded or damned depending on what we do or do not do. Read more…

Marriage and Divorce in the West versus the East

I am not sure if I can cover both marriage and divorce in this one blog entry but we will see. There was a question in the forum asking about the difference between divorce in the West versus divorce in the East which I think means China. Maybe before discussing the end of a marriage we should look at the beginning of a life together or marriage in the West versus the East from my perspective. Read more…

Things About China - Weight Loss Secrets?

Here is another item I find curious about China. You also see it in big poster ads in Hong Kong on the subway and in the underground tunnels. It is another magic elixir that will cause you to look like a movie star in very short order. If only it were true then you would see it touted in all the medical journals as the sure fire way to lose that excess fat that typically accumulates around your middle. Read more…
