Barry from Australia is a questioning soul who looks at social issues from an alternative point of view and instead of asking, “Why?”, he asks “Why not?” He’s convinced that many of his previous incarnations were spent in China. He feels drawn to the people there; attracted by their rich culture and way of life. If given one wish from God, he’d reply, “I want everyone on Earth to be the same colour, speak the same language, and treat each other as they themselves would like to be treated.”

@YinTingYu

"The title picture,.......WOW !!........How bold.
How daring to allow you to post such a photo publicly.
Maybe she does not know"

Yes Gongji - you're exactly correct. Tina would have a heart attack if she knew a picture of her with a face mask on was being publicly shown here. I'm very lucky indeed she never reads any of my articles. (giggle)

I did like the image though, because as you astutely perceived, it shows an inner beauty, calmness and serenity about Tina that is one of her endearing hallmarks.

"I have been reticent to comment to you because this is a public format and I don't want to come across as “nosy”."

Please feel free to comment on anything at all, Gongji. I'm sure nobody reads what we say here in the comments, except for a couple of dozen people at most.

"I sense that you have somehow managed to manifest from the recesses of your being the “Quintessential Female Chicken” (Hen)"

This is interesting as I'm unsure from where in my writings does this come across? I had hoped people read my words and thought, "What a high class, discerning gentleman this fellow truly is!", but evidently, I've not yet achieved this revered status?

Although I must admit, I'm a relatively simple person, without many complex needs, so in many ways, perhaps I am akin to a chicken with its simple life also?

"From your writings, you are sort of a (self admitted) high strung...... jerk..... with youthful puckishness."

You are spot on the money here, Gongji. I sometimes can be less of a person that otherwise I'd hope or aspire to be. But often, a bit mischievous as well. Well spotted!

"I want you to please remember to listen very closely and watch attentively to what Tina has to say and does. She will teach / remind you of some things you may have been overlooking"

Again, this is exactly correct, Gongji. I'm learning a lot from Tina. What she sees in me I have no idea. I'm just one very lucky dude, I guess!

"the wasp thing ?,...”wake up call” buddy."

You mean the wasp suddenly made us all alert and excited, just like a bugle sounding at dawn, to awaken all the soldiers? If so, then it certainly achieved its purpose!

A great series of comments, thank you YinTingYu, aka Gongji. (clap)

"I am interested in helping to translate this popular blog"

When I read your words I nearly fell off my chair in shock, Annie.

You have proven to me that there are indeed some very kind people out there. Marissa has done an excellent job of translating my articles up till now, but unfortunately she's busy now with traveling and doing other important things in her life.

For someone to take on board the often thankless translation task is a commendable action indeed, showing not only a strong work ethic, but a keen and talented mind also.

Thank you and best wishes to you, Annie. (clap)

@Barry1
Thanks for receiving my words without insult.
It was just some observations from your writings.
I feel we all have a little bit of all the "barnyard" within us.
You have some "chicken" and I have some "horse".
It's cool.

Now,...please don't short change yourself brother.
There is something you have that attracts Tina to you.
Perhaps it is the simplicity of your physical needs but,...I sense it is your mind / consciousness that attracts.
Admit. Just fly with it.

Do not be too concerned about coming across as "...A high class, discerning gentleman...".
You already are.

Also you have written "To me, all religions were akin to individual rivers, that ultimately flowed to one great sea, one universal Source".
Buddy,........I am Soooo with you on this !!

Enjoy your new / old union.
Peace out,
Gongji

Oh,...I think Papa John will allow me to have a personal blog post.
Hopes you will read and perhaps comment.

@Barry1
Hello Barry,
Just to respectfully jog your memory,...
The Chicken / Horse thing was in reference to "My China Trip - Day 18 - Part 2".
Remember the mountain across from Zaru Temple with all the animals of the zodiac in the avalanche remains ?
If you're forgetting this,...Man you MUST be in love !! (rofl)
The good news is (from my research) that Horses and Hens can make a fine couple after they have had previous individual relationship experiences.
In my book,...y'all are "livin' proof".
It just takes some time for a horse to find its' reins and learn to drive its' self. :D
Later, Y.T.Y.

"Do not be too concerned about coming across as "...A high class, discerning gentleman...". You already are. "

Thank you for these words Gongji. Yet they made me smile. Do you remember in some of the earlier episodes of this tale, the enormous belching farts I did on both the way to and the exit from Jiuzhaigou at the bus roadside rest stops? Oh, the fun and hilarity they caused me. Somehow I don't think a high class, discerning gentleman would've derived such mirth and joy as I gained from these (possibly vulgar?) events.

I won't even mention the happiness I gained when a tub of exploding yoghurt covered the lady sitting beside in the bus with oodles of fermenting fluid. (rofl) I have a niggling doubt whether a truly discerning, high class gentleman would've guffawed as loudly as I did on that day.

As for being either a hen or a horse, I'm still unconvinced about the veracity or otherwise of the horoscope. I think what's between one's ears is more important, one's mind and personality. Unless these are somehow mysteriously subtly influenced by the time and date of one's birth? :^)

Cheers Gongji.

Hi B.
" Somehow I don't think a high class, discerning gentleman would've derived such mirth and joy as I gained from these (possibly vulgar?) events".
From the "discerning gentlemen" I have encountered, and I have known a few, they ALL belch, fart, and laugh uncontrollably from time to time, just like us "regular(?)" fellows.
I'm saving comments on the various astrology's for a later blog post.
You understand.....
Hope you will read.
But for your relief right now,...I ain't (am not) gonna' let no damned planet push me around !!
Peace,
Gongji

Good gosh Gongji - next you'll be telling me that revered figures such as the Queen of England and Santa Claus belch and fart also!

Surely not! :o

Barry, feel better now that you newest blog entry is here! Was missing the daily musings of Barry and Tina in China!

I have a question for you..... has Tina ever checked to see if she can wear contact lenses? I ask this as seeing her picture with the facial mask on it actually highlights and shows that she has very kind eyes....but are hidden by the glasses.

The last time I was in China I found the women very open and extremely interested in me, so much so they did not seem deterred by the woman who was on my arm and quite obviously my gf. Have you found this happens to you as well? I guess it is because we are foreigners and they are curious about us. I was however slightly shocked that they wanted to look at my blue eyes and chat with me...all in front of my gf lol Oh and that of course was it was made quite clear to me that it was "my fault" lol

I also wanted to ask if you had any problems with your lungs/breathing bring affected by the pollution in the air while you were there, especially when hiking around Tina's city?

Looking forward to your next entry...hopefully it will contain news of impending marriage? :)(y)(d)

Cheers...

@anonymous12607

Thanks for your comments, Anon12607. Please let me address the points you made as follows.

"I have a question for you..... has Tina ever checked to see if she can wear contact lenses? I ask this as seeing her picture with the facial mask on it actually highlights and shows that she has very kind eyes....but are hidden by the glasses."

I have lightly touched on this subject with Tina but was quickly rebuffed. Tina is very accustomed to wearing glasses and believes she looks more elegant WITH them on, than without them. I will raise this point again with her however, at the opportune moment as I tend to agree with you.

"The last time I was in China I found the women very open and extremely interested in me, so much so they did not seem deterred by the woman who was on my arm and quite obviously my gf. Have you found this happens to you as well? I guess it is because we are foreigners and they are curious about us. I was however slightly shocked that they wanted to look at my blue eyes and chat with me...all in front of my gf lol Oh and that of course was it was made quite clear to me that it was "my fault""

The only time this has happened was on several occasions when Chinese ladies wanted their friends to take a photo of me standing beside them. No lady has actually flirted with me in front of Tina yet but I always walked around in daggy clothes, well used sandshoes and a daggy hat.... certainly not the most stylish of outfits.

"I also wanted to ask if you had any problems with your lungs/breathing bring affected by the pollution in the air while you were there, especially when hiking around Tina's city?"

I never actually experienced breathing problems with the pollution yet I could smell it from time to time. One tends to become accustomed to it after a while. it was a continual disappointment to see it though, nearly every time I looked up and down the Shawan River. Shawan is a small country town and by all rights, its air should've been pristine. But most certainly, it wasn't.

"Looking forward to your next entry...hopefully it will contain news of impending marriage?"

Sorry, I can't spoil any forthcoming plot surprises at this point. Who knows, perhaps Tina and I could break up, rather than uniting? At this point, regettably nothing is firm or set in cement. (sweat)
