@RHendry;                 Regarding land ownership; I'm not sure how it works in China, but I do know that over 5,000 acres in my state, have been sold to the Chinese just this last year.Of course it is probably not ,nor can be that way in China that an American could buy land there,I just haven't any idea.                                    @paulfox1;      at the same as not looking for a divorcee to marry goes both ways in some cases. I had an invite from a 34 yr old living here in the states,Chinese of course, who said she was unlucky in love, and was looking for her last true love. She said she had been divorced from a cheater in China, and then found a very nice man in the states with whom she married, but it didn't last but 3 years before they divorced for irreconcilable differences, and she had met another good man who not long after being married,he had died. of course she wanted the usual over $100 K a year income,a home paid for,a Luxury car,and age of 60 - 90 .Now I'm sure you can understand how after reading a post, and a few messages to learn that It kinda makes a person think,no divorcee's from either side of the fence.

@LWJ 5000 acres in one state does not tell the whole story. I bet half of Manhattan and LA is owned by foreigners. Same as in London. It's either oil rich Arabs or money laundering Russians and Chinese that are mainly responsible. Yet, the ordinary guys such as you and I, cannot buy land in most of these countries. The only thing they will gladly sell you is a condo where you never own the land but are merely paying "rent' to say it's yours. It is to a point, but only until the lease expires.

@PaulFox At least you had a laptop. I had to buy a new one in Thailand :)

@RHendry;     Yes I'm sure it is either a big business who bought the property, but some of the locals have said they think it was the Chinese Govt. who bought the land without paying a dime for it as with a lot of other properties in the US, since our illustrious Govt. has borrowed over 13 trillion dollars from China. WE all think it is just giving our land away to them to help pay for the loans... The worst thing about it is no one knows where all the monies has gone to.That is unless it was to pad the politicians back pockets, because none of it has been used for anything good that we know of.And like you said also land has been sold to the Russians, but mostly  the uranium rich properties our Female running for POTUS was the one to orchestrate that deal while secretary of state. The US has been confiscating lots of properties from Farmers and big Ranchers for no reason whatsoever and selling them to other Governments. This didn't start till 7 + years ago when our now President was elected.I have been saying for years that America has not been being run by Americans anymore. And people use to laugh at me ,but now I think they are beginning to beleive it.

I can see this turning into an episode similar to Monty Pythons "Four Yorshiremen" lol. If you haven't seen it just go to YouTube and type it in. Hilarious !
