How many times do Westerners and Chinese have the frustration about understanding each other ? When will it ever cease? Most likely ... never ...
However, in my thinking there are some healthy ideas (i deleted the other ideas) that might reduce this frustration to a more suitable level .
I don’t mean that it is more important to love ourselves than to love (humanity - your family - the people living in your Country -- your social group). I just mean that loving yourself is the way you love others. I mean that loving yourself is, in a way, more important than loving your neighbour because, without loving yourself, it is quite impossible to love your neighbour.--
We need to find healthy ways to have good self esteem for ourselves first ... then we are more able to appreciate the qualities of other people -- especially those from a different Culture!
We should try to remember that in this prevalent Globalization that continues to move forward as a juggernaut -- We should of all people .. who belong here -- to continue to find ways to appreciate each other more each day ...
p.s. there were more information from my sources ... but too lengthy ..
BTW, I agree with you wholeheartedly that the ability to love someone else fully is very much contingent on one's first possessing a positive and healthy love of him or herself.
Most airline passengers understand the oxygen mask drill. If you put your oxygen mask on first, then you put yourself in a much better position to help others with their oxygen masks.
The same applies to self-love. If you give yourself love and forgiveness then it is much easier for you to give abundant love and forgiveness to others.
