Barry from Australia is a questioning soul who looks at social issues from an alternative point of view and instead of asking, “Why?”, he asks “Why not?” He’s convinced that many of his previous incarnations were spent in China. He feels drawn to the people there; attracted by their rich culture and way of life. If given one wish from God, he’d reply, “I want everyone on Earth to be the same colour, speak the same language, and treat each other as they themselves would like to be treated.”

@woaizhongguo

I have also noticed, with amazement, at how clean the interior of Chinese people's cars are.

@newbeginning

"Barry, if it doesnt work out with your new woman I will gladly go RVing in your RV with you mate"

Thanks for this NB, but unfortunately the vehicle is equipped with only one bed, sized half way in between a double and a queen.

So in this RV, it seems that I'll only ever being travelling in it either alone or with a lady.

As for everything else you mentioned, it made a lot of good sense. You're obviously one of the smarter guys on this website, in my opinion!  (y)(y)

A cynic would say this is from a low base, lucky I'm not one of those!

@woaizhongguo

"they do expect financial stability, and that seems to me not a negative thing but incredibly pragmatic and sensible".

Spot on, Peter!   (y)

Barry, how sad that you cannot think outside that box you have built around yourself. I mean the motorhome.

You want a great companion for an endless journey exploring Oz in your motorhome?

Yes, the perfect woman would be a great companion, but as you know there are a limited number of perfect women.

However, while there are few perfect women, there is an endless number of perfect companions,

If you want to truly enjoy every minute of your exploration of Oz in that motorhome, go get yourself a German Shepherd puppy, or a Golden Retriever, or any number of other breeds of dogs.I have personal experience of German Shepherds and Golden Retrievers and in either case you cannot go wrong. But you do need to start with a puppy (2 to 3 months old) when you get him or her.

Don't embark on your trip until he/she is a year or so old.

You won't be traveling with the woman of your dreams, but your canine companion will never argue, reprimand, chastise, criticize or otherwise spoil your mood. And, not to be understated, this same companion will result in almost daily interest in you by women you meet on your journey because they "love animals" and are drawn to men who also love animals.

Plus dogs are much better judges of character than we are. If your dog doesn't like any guest you have welcomed into your motorhome, then it is time to kick that guest out of there.

Jusst imagine a companion on a lengthy journey who never questions your endlessly questionable decisions and never argues about the merits of your way of living your life.

A great suggestion thanks John. Except for one thing.  I LOVE DOGS SO MUCH THAT I WOULD NEVER OWN ONE.

A seeming paradox, but true. You see, I'm appalled by those thousands of pet owners who tire of their animals after just a few months or a few years. They don't possess the character to make a solid commitment for the long term and then stand by it.

Owning a dog to me is a fifteen year commitment.  I cannot see myself living in Australia for all of this time. I have plans to return to China, to visit Chiangmei in Thailand, then there's Vietnam and Cambodia to take a gander at, etc.

How could I in all conscience take on a beautiful, intelligent animal with feelings, knowing it would inevitably be left for months at a time?

This is similar in fact, to why I never had any children. I never felt I was responsible enough to make a really good parent. I was too selfish, too immature, too stupid and too flighty to make such a serious commitment.

For many people John, your idea would be great.  But alas, it's not for me. (think)
