Everyone needs to have face to face genuine connections with a broad range of other people who are mentally healthy. Addicts lack these connections and need to develop them to become healthier human beings. It is very difficult for addicts to make this adjustment to their lives without assistance. Most countries have multiple ways of assisting addicts to live a more connected life.

The greater the number of healthy connections we have with others, the easier it is to make healthy choices for how we best live our lives.

When you refer to 'addicts', what kind of 'addict' are you talking about? Drugs? Alcohol? Sex?

I'm 'addicted' to coffee. I can't start my day without at least 2 cups. Does that put me in your category for needing help?

Addicts are harmless UNLESS they are doing harm to others (Drugs perhaps), so why not leave them alone to their own devices if they are hurting no-one?

"Oh, but they might harm themselves"

@paulfox not addicted, but obsessed - by the trivial and nonsensical; it simply doesn't belong in an Asian-English exchange site.Speak about where you live and teach, talk about life there in China.
