Every online dating site has its share of scammers and game players. For quite a long time I did not understand the difference between scammer and game player. I put both of them in the category of liers or cheaters, as when these 2 are translated into Chinese, there is only one word in my mind 'pian zi'. And then I did some homework and found they share one thing in common: scammers and game players come to the dating sites in order to cheat people through fake personalities, fake photos, fake template letters, non-existent addresses and phone numbers, forged documents. Well, there may be some amateur game players who would put their own pictures, but normally just one. Not like scammers who aim for money, game players are not looking for money. They use online dating sites to arrange a string of casual encounters, or are simply sexual predators.

As known, the internet has made the world into a global village since last decade. It has brought a great change of people’s life. Online course, instant chatting, free international calls, free movies and e-books, all the stuffs are available via the internet. Meanwhile, without exception, online dating has become more and more prevail for abundant selections and mysterious feelings. The survey data shows: at the beginning, it has had a higher success probability of cyber love than nowadays. Why? The internet hadn’t been so penetrated initially. Also at that time, only a few people could afford to have own computer. Those who started online dating had the simpler minds and better breeding themselves and treated cyber love as a new and excited experience with their efforts.

Well just as we lost Rich, which is a great loss to our eMagazine, by pure good fortune we gained Bren, another Success Story and another very insightful guy. You can check out his Success Story here, then come back and get a little advice about when NOT to say you're in love... Now here is Bren's first blog.

As in my last blog entry, I’ve presented with some apparent-to-be-made-out emails and the red alarms accordingly. And in this blog entry, I’d like to present more clinical experiences which either you can make out in the first place or of which you need to take time to find a clue.

Here are some more of the series I received in email - still haven't found the place they originally come from...

China Culture

I suppose I am the endless optimist in the mist of the realists. I don’t know why, but I have always looked on the bright side of dark situations and can always see the positive nature of even the worst events. Maybe, this is a very bad flaw to have and I should let go of this shiny happy attitude. I feel however, that this attitude is what has allowed me to succeed in life and to achieve all that is opening up before me now. It has been my ability to adapt to the negative changes around me. My father once told me an ancient Chinese proverb, “He who bends with the wind shall weather the storm, but he who stands like a wall will surely crumble.” I never did find out if this is a true Chinese proverb but it seemed like good advice and I still follow it to this day.
For those of you reading this from the Americas, you may not understand the culture here in China, but you may have experienced similar things. On my day off during the week, Gwynne picked me up at my apartment and told me that she wanted me to meet her best girlfriend. You all know what this means. She is getting her girlfriend to check you out, to see if her best friend thinks you are suitable for her. This is her crucial second opinion.

As I have mentioned before, I am a client of CLM. I have chosen to make my profile invisible because I am in a serious relationship with a beautiful Chinese woman I will call, Gwynne, whom I met here at CLM. When I came to China more than a year ago, I came with the express purpose of building a relationship with a woman I met through another agency. After being together for a year, we decided that we were not a very good match. It was a gradual realization. Language was not the barrier and I sincerely believe that the mismatch was because she was unable to accept what I wanted to share with her; my interests are diverse.

I used to receive some invitations in my yahoo IM. But I am few to chat online in my yahoo.
