Another Winter
Tomorrow is Winter Solstice, an important lunar festival in China. It has the shortest day and the longest night in the northern hemisphere. For Chinese, it means winter is coming, it also means alive day.
I search, tomorrow the temperature here will be 19degrees to 12 degrees. And it is sunny. I have always dreamed to see snow，it seems like day dreams here.
It is Chinese tradition, during Winter Solstice, people should stop working and have a good rest, eat good food,keep warm and healthy.
When I was in my hometown, we would make much nice food, such as mustard cakes, leek cakes.... But my favourite was stewed fried escargots with peppers, and the eggs under the pot…. Really yummy!
But here now, no chance to try it all. So my family plan to have a hotpot tomorrow night, with dumplings, lamp, fish,etc. It seems simpler. But my sister will take us to go out at night and try to find stewed fried escargots, because it is her favourite,too.
What should I do,then?
Tomorrow the temreture will be 19degrees to 12degrees. And it is sunny. Tomorrow I will have a meeting in Guangzhou. I think I can walk in the warm sunshine tomorrow.
I have experienced many cold winters. But in my memory, the coldest time was also the happiest time. At that time,We didn’t have enough warm clothes to wear, and we didn’t have heat at home like northern places. So all family had to stay around the fire day and night, fried sweet potatoes, taroes,…. And talking happily.
This winter, it feels warmer, not only in body, but also in heart. I will try to make something nice for my family. Not tomorrow, it is the day after tomorrow. I asked my friend to help me get gypsum from her hometown since last year, so far away. So I will be able to make a special sweet wine with glutinous rice. We can try it in 2 or 3days, and cook with eggs and ginger.
It will be my first time to make food for my family on Winter Solstice. All my family will be very surprised.
又一个冬天
明天是冬至， 一个重要的农历节日。这是北半球白天最短夜晚最长的一天。对中国人来说，这一天也叫“活日”。
我搜索了，明天这里的气温是19-12度，晴天。我老梦想着看雪，在这里是白日梦了。
中国传统，冬至，人们应该停止工作，好好休息，品尝美食，保养身体。
在老家，我们会做很多美食，比如：芥菜糍粑，韭菜糍粑，辣椒爆炒田螺，还有鸡蛋埋在田螺下，。。。。。。真的很美味！
但是在这里，没机会品尝那么多了。我们全家计划打火锅，有饺子，羊肉，鱼，等等。看起来简单多了。但是，明晚，妹妹会带我们出去吃夜宵，也许我们可以尝到田螺呢。因为那也是她最喜欢的。
我该做什么呢?
明天气温19到12度，晴天。我有一个会议在广州。我想我可以走在温暖的阳光下。
我经历过很多寒冷的冬天。但是，在我的记忆中，最冷的时候也是最幸福的时候。那时，我们没有足够暖和的衣服，又不像北方有暖气，只能全家白天黑夜围着火堆烤火，烤红薯、芋头……开心的谈笑。
这个冬天，感觉比较暖和，不仅身体的感觉，还有内心里的感受。我要为家人做一点特别的美食。去年一个朋友从她老远的家乡帮我找来石膏，所以，我要做糯米甜酒。不是明天，是后天。两三天后，我们就可以品尝了，加鸡蛋和姜。
这将是我第一次在冬至为家人做吃的，他们到时会很惊讶！
